About us

TERA is a non-profit research foundation founded by Jillian Gregg in 2004 to conduct plant ecophysiology and global change research. We are currently funded by the US Department of Energy, Office of Science, and housed at the Environmental Protection Agency's Western Ecology Division, in Corvallis, OR.

We conduct research using the EPA's terracosm facility, a set of 12 sunlit mesocosms with precision climate controls and automated measurement systems. The terracosms are used as a combined cuvette/lysimeter system to monitor both aboveground and belowground carbon, water, and nutrient fluxes. Please visit the research page to learn more about our current research program.
